It's the last game for some Section Five seniors as they play in one of the Seniors Games on Tuesday, June 12th at Irondequoit High School. The Class B/C teams will play at 6:00 pm and the Class A teams will play at 7:30 pm.

Proving how close the Class A teams are this year, Schroeder beat Irondequoit in a close game (6-5). Rush-Henrietta was an 11-7 winner over Churchville-Chili. Livonia beat Aquinas, Brighton beat Gates in OT, Penn Yan beat Amherst and Fairport beat Orchard Park. Other winners included Eastridge, Penfield, Hilton, Pittsford and Newark.

Fairport defeated the last of the undefeated teams this afternoon when the beat visiting Irondequoit, 8-7 in overtime. Rush-Henrietta had a 10-9 win over Penfield, Pittsford played a great game against Schroeder but lost 7-9. The Thunder won in the 2nd OT. A total of 13 games were scheduled on Thursday.

Finally, under bright and sunny skies, thirteen games were played under ideal conditions. Schroeder beat Orchard Park 10-6, Greece Arc/Ath won there first Varsity game and CA lost their first game of the season. There was lots of great lacrosse today.

Fairport played another overtime game today, winning this time in two over time periods against Penfield, 9-8. Two games featured Head Coach brother against brother. Craig Whipple beat his brother Andrew as Irondequoit was the 8-4 winner over Pittsford and Tom MacMillan beat brother Mark as HFL was the 10-5 winner over Brighton.

There were a number of big games played under wet conditions on Thursday. Penfield avenged an earlier loss to Fairport in a Monroe County game and Penn Yan used two over time periods to beat Canandaigua in Finger Lakes play. Schroeder was a one goal winner against Rush Henrietta and HFL won a big Class B win against Brighton.

After a 4-4 tie at the start of the the fourth quarter, Brighton scored two goals. Geneva brought the scored to within one with less than a minute, but the Barons held on.

For the most part it was cross-over day in Section Five. McQuaid Jesuit lost to St. Francis of Buffalo and Rush-Henrietta beat visiting Livonia. The rest of the games were league games with non-divisional teams.

There were six games played on Thursday during vacation week. Defense was the name of the game at Penn Yan where the Mustangs scored the game winner in the last minute of the game. Canandaigua won by a goal at Irondequoit and Geneva scored three goals in last quarter to beat McQuaid Jesuit.

There were two unfinished games on Tuesday and they were concluded today in two different ways. On Tuesday, Rush-Henrietta was ahead 5-0 when the game was suspended just before the half. When the game was finished today, the Royal Comets had won 15-3. The Webster Schroeder game was not finished, but ended by agreement, and the Warriors were declared the 10-3 winner.

Geneva (#3) beat Brighton (#2) 17-6 and Waterloo (#3) beat Aquinas (#2) in the B/C tournament. In the Class A bracket, all of the higher seeded teams won, setting up the semi final round on Tuesday at Aquinas (Class A) and Irondequoit (Class B/C).

The rematch of HF-L and Brighton drew attention tonight and the Cougars again were the victors, but in a closer game than back in early April. McQuaid Jesuit won another game by a single goal, as did Victor in their game with Waterloo. Canandaigua's Head Coach John Johnson won his 350th game. Ten other games were played in Section Five on Thursday.

Newark played Midlakes to an 8-6 win and Aquinas won a close game with McQuaid Jesuit on their new turf field.

Honeoye Falls-Lima improved their record to 4-0 with a night game win at host Brighton, 17-5. After building a 5-3 lead in the first, the Cougars exploded in the second with 8 goals to Brighton's 1 to end the half up 13-3. Seven different players contributed to the 17 goals, 11 of which were assisted (65%).
